Strength & conditioning COACHING

STRENGTH & CONDITIONING COACHING

Our strength & conditioning coaching focuses on building strength, speed, agility, endurance, and flexibility through a variety of exercises and drills. The program begins with a comprehensive assessment of each athlete's current fitness level to determine areas of strength and weakness. Customized training plans are then developed for each athlete, with an emphasis on progressive overload to ensure continuous improvement throughout the program. Strength training exercises will focus on developing the muscles used most (such as the core, legs, and upper body), through weightlifting, bodyweight exercises, and resistance training. This will improve the players' ability to execute powerful shots, passes, and checks, and (most importantly) increase their resistance to injury. Speed and agility drills are included, with a focus on accelerating and rapid direction changing. Endurance training will focus on building cardiovascular fitness, enabling players to sustain high-intensity play for longer periods of time. Flexibility and mobility exercises will also be incorporated to help prevent injuries and improve range of motion. Throughout the program, progress will be closely monitored and adjusted as necessary to ensure that each athlete is continually challenged and making progress towards their goals. By the end of the program, student-athletes will have developed the strength, speed, agility, endurance, and flexibility necessary to excel in post-secondary lacrosse programs.

MENTAL STRENGTH
& Wellness 

MENTAL STRENGTH & Wellness COACHING

Our mental strength & wellness coaching focuses on building and maintaining mental strength. Rob Pallante is a former athlete with an impressive background spanning various industries. After attending Michigan Tech, Rob spent several years in the minors before shifting to focus on a corporate career.

ATHLETIC Development 

ATHLETIC Development COACHING

The Athletic Development program at SYNC Sports Academy is a 12-week specialized training for high school lacrosse players. Led by experienced coaches, it focuses on improving agility, speed, strength, and endurance. This intensive program spans twelve weeks and is led by experienced coaches who have a deep understanding of the NCAA student-athlete experience. Training Structure: Throughout the program, participants will engage in a series of progressive training sessions that are strategically designed to improve various aspects of athleticism. The focus areas include agility, speed, strength, endurance, and overall physical performance. Each session is carefully crafted to challenge players and drive continuous improvement. Expert Coaching: The program's coaches bring a wealth of expertise and passion to each training session. With a player-centered approach, they provide personalized attention, helping athletes to identify and work on their individual strengths and weaknesses. The coaches' guidance ensures that players receive the necessary support to excel in their athletic pursuits.

ACADEMIC DEVELOPMENT

The academic part of the SYNC Sports Academy program is a comprehensive and supportive component that aims to ensure the success of student-athletes both on and off the field. With a focus on academic excellence and college preparedness, this aspect of the program provides valuable tools and resources for participants to thrive in their academic pursuits. Personalized Academic Coaching: Each student-athlete receives personalized academic coaching, tailored to their individual needs and goals. The academic coach works closely with participants, offering guidance on time management, study skills, and organizational strategies to help them excel in their studies. Academic Package for NCAA Coaches: SYNC Sports Academy provides participants with a personalized academic package that showcases their academic achievements and potential to NCAA Division 1 coaches. This package serves as a valuable tool in the college recruitment process, enhancing their chances of securing athletic scholarships. Guidance on College Selection: The program includes guidance on the best school choices for each student-athlete. The academic coach assists in identifying colleges that align with their academic and athletic aspirations, helping them make informed decisions about their future. SYNC Sports Academy is committed to providing the training and support needed to achieve higher education goals through sports. By combining athletic development with academic coaching and college exposure, the program equips student-athletes with the tools they need to succeed academically and athletically at the NCAA Division 1 level and beyond.

HEAD COACH: MIKE TARANTINO

Mike Tarantino is a certified High School Teacher with over 14 years in the classroom. He is a former NCAA player who was named captain, awarded the "Teammate Award", and a multiple All-Conference player at the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) in the NCAA.  He earned All-American honours in 2004.

Health & Nutrition COACHING

We recognize the critical role that health and nutrition play in achieving peak athletic performance. Our Health and Nutrition aspect is designed to optimize the well-being of our student-athletes, providing them with the knowledge and support necessary to maintain their physical and mental vitality throughout their athletic journey. Our certified nutrition coach works closely with student-athletes, creating customized meal plans that ensure they receive the right balance of nutrients to fuel their bodies optimally. We also emphasize the significance of proper fueling to enhance athletic performance. We educate our student-athletes on the importance of pre- and post-training nutrition, as well as strategies for maintaining energy levels during competitions. By adopting healthy eating habits, participants can maximize their on-field performance and recovery. Our approach promotes balanced nutrition that supports both physical health and mental clarity. We emphasize the importance of a well-rounded diet, incorporating a variety of nutrient-rich foods that contribute to overall well-being. Recovery is an integral part of an athlete's routine. Our program educates student-athletes on the significance of post-training recovery and offers strategies to aid in muscle repair and reduce the risk of injuries. Additionally, we emphasize the importance of hydration, ensuring that participants stay adequately hydrated to perform at their best. SYNC takes a holistic approach to health and nutrition, recognizing that a balanced lifestyle is essential for long-term success. We promote healthy habits on and off the field, encouraging student-athletes to prioritize their overall well-being. By incorporating health and nutrition education into our program, SYNC Sports Academy ensures that our student-athletes have the tools they need to perform at their best, both athletically and academically. Patsy Commisso is a nutritionist with over 20 years of practice experience. Working on the front line with patients has allowed her to create over 20 impactful nutrition programs that are used
in many clinics around the North America as well as at her own MCC clinic.

Rob CamPbell

After graduating from University of Western Ontario with a Business Major, I entered the world of Finance for a period of four years before embarking on a lengthy career within the Canadian Food Ingredient market. Beginning as an Account Manager with PFW and then Universal Flavors for a combined 7 years, rising to the role of Sales & Marketing Manager. I then moved on for 6 years to an opportunity as Sales Manager with an equity position at HT Griffin. After a successful tenure at HTG finishing as Vice President of Sales & Marketing, we took the massive step in establishing our “Start-Up” Continental Ingredients. Over 23 years we developed one of the largest and most reputable ingredient company in Canada. Over those many years I took on various leadership roles within my three son’s athletic careers, leading to Managing Partner & President of the Oakville Blades Junior Hockey Club 2012-2016. We transformed the Blades to a community-based hockey club with 70-80% of our team coming from Oakville and developed through the Oakville Minor Hockey System. Our Mission: To help facilitate fine young men to higher levels of education through hockey. We were successful in assisting over 50 young men in accomplishing their goal of a higher education. Since then, I have taken on roles as President & Chair on the Ontario Hockey Association and now as a Director on the Ontario Hockey federation Board. It was during my time at the Oakville Blades, where I discovered that there are so many great student athletes, that just need guidance towards reaching their goal of a higher education through their sport. Too many of them fall through the cracks within all sports. This is where the thought of SYNC SPORTS ACADEMY came to life. With my successful background in business and the business of sport, we look forward with our great group of coaches, to this next wonderful step of assisting young student athletes.
